15 people were booked on murder charge in connection with the clash between CISF and AAI personnel in which a jawan was killed at Karipur international airport where flight operations resumed on Thursday morning amid tight security.

The airport was temporarily shut down after the clash between CISF and fire department officials of Airport Authority of India (AAI) following an argument over frisking of some personnel.

CCTV visuals of the violence were aired by television channels, which showed a group of 10 to 15 CISF personnel, both in uniform and in plainclothes, smashing window panes stones and batons.

They pulled down an expensive painting from the wall, broke lights and window panes, creating mayhem after the news of the death of jawan Jaipal Yadav spread.

CISF head constable Yadav from Uttar Pradesh was killed after the pistol belonging to CISF sub-inspector Sita Ram Choudhary went off in the violent scuffle with AAI fire staffers Aji Kumar, Sunny Thomas and others, reports the Times of India.

The bullet hit Yadav's head from a very close range when he intervened to settle the altercation between Choudhary - who had drawn out his gun - and the fire staffers who were trying to grab his weapon.

The footage showed a man, claimed to be a CISF official in civilian clothes, directing his men to destroy the property around, while another in uniform was seen smashing a window pane by stamping it with his boot and baton.

The AAI report also said when senior ATC staff rushed to the spot, "a bunch of armed CISF personnel rushed to the spot and started beating everyone and pointed their gun towards officers and staff." The fire staff, mounted on fire tender trucks, fled the area and moved to the runway.

The CISF personnel then drove their bus to the runway and chased the fire tenders, reports TOI.

Armed CISF personnel also barged into the technical building, housing the ATC tower and other vital communication facilities at 11pm. "All AAI personnel on duty - including ATC controllers - hid in the terrace area and behind doors while CISF staff damaged walkie-talkies, doors and furniture at the ATC," the report said.
